Unit 1: Up and About Chapter 1
1-1:Johnny was the boss of Dove and Dusty.
1-2: They didn't like each other at all. Because Johnny was younger than Dove, but he was the boss of him. Chapter 3
1-1: Johnny is very serious about work.He wants to be a silversmith. Chapter 4
1-1: It shows that Johnny is a hard worker and is determined.It also shows how bad he wants to become a silversmith. Chapter 6
1-1: The crest of the Lytes was an eye, raising up from the sea. It brought excitement. Unit 2:The Pride of Your Power Chapter 1
1-1: Johnny turned down the offer because he thought the Laphams would never get anything done without him. Chapter 3
1-1:The events leading up to Johnny's accident were that he needed more time for the silver cup. So in order to get it done, he would have to work on the sabbath.Which is not permitted. Chapter 5
1-1: His life changed dramatically because when he hand was unwrapped,his thumb and finger were stuck together. Which made it very difficult to be a silversmith. Unit 3 Earth of brass Chapter 1
1-1:Rab did not spring into action. He took him on. Chapter 3
1-1: I think Earth of Brass meant that he now has to work with brass instead of copper.So he didn't get exactly what he wanted. Unit 4: The Rising Eye Chapter 1
1-1:He was kind of crabby and mean. He wanted Johnny to leave. He was also a very wealthy merchant. Chapter 2
1-1: One of the punishment was being hanged. People could throw things at you.
2-1: The court decision favored johnny because there was no evidence to prove he stole the cup.
Unit 5 The Boston Observer
Chapter 2
2-1: Johnny's job as a messenger is to deliver papers around the town to people. If he delivers a paper to someone out of town he can tell them about the Whig's.
Chapter 3 and 4
3-1:Johnny is not overly happy about leaving the laphams, he misses them a lot.
4-1: Because they like that person and they get a lot of attention.
4-3: He told him not to keep his hand in his pocket.
4-4: It goes against the English Government. Unit 6: Salt-Water Tea
5-1: Johnny must learn to chop with an axe, so that he can play a role in the Boston Tea Party. Unit 7: The Fiddler's Bill Chapter 1
1-1:The punishment for the town was that the tea was going to be very expensive.
1-2: The high taxes made the colonies come together to go against the government. Chapter 2
1-1: General Gage wanted to make friends so he didnt want to hang rebels. He expected everything to straighten out by itself. Chapter 3
3-2: Johnny has changed because Rab has taught him to be a better and more kind person. Chapter 4
4-1: Johnny has a lot more affection for Mrs. Lapham because she always was the firts one up in the morning and she always had clean shirts and floors. She took very good care of the family. Chapter 5
5-1: Bessie, the lady who took care of the children. Unit 8: A World to Come
Chapter 1: The mob chased the Lytes because they agreed with the British Government.
2-1: The Bible reveals that merchant Lyte was connected to him.
2-2: Johnny said this would be the end because the civil war was coming. Chapter 5
The freedom James was talking about was to give the peasants of France and the serfs of Russia freedom like a new sun rising in the east. Unit 9 Chapter 3
9-1: Johnny has changed a lot. He thinks before he talks and he is more kind, loving and shows more affection.
9-2: The minute men are having meetings and Lieutenant stranger is talking with Johnny. Chapter 5
5-1:He knows that rab got his musket but wont get to use it very long. Pumpkin wont get his farm. He started realizing more things. Unit 10 Disperse, "Ye Rebels" Chapter 1
1-1: Paul Revere and Doctor Warren knew attacks were coming. Johnny stayed at Afric Queen and realized that attacks were coming. The British were getting ready.
1-2:The lantern in the tower will flash. Then they will know the attacks are coming. Chapter 2
2-1: Rab knows the attacks are coming and he wants to be part of it. Johnny was very upset that Rab was leaving. But Rab said he shouldnt go. Unit 11 Yankee Doodle
Chapter 1
1-1:Lexington was the firt battle. The minutemen were defeated because they were outnumbered and they weren't perpared enough.
Chapter 3
3-1: They had already gone to the battle.
Chapter 4
4-1: Because Johnny kept saying he was related to the Lyte's.
Chapter 5
5-1: Johnny means that when there is peace he is just a boy who enjoyes life. But when there is war he wants to take part and is very serious about it. Unit 12 A Man Can Stand Up
Chapter 1
1-1: Johnny gets a Red coat so that he looks like all of the British soldiers.
Chapter 2
2-1: Johnny is amazed because they were out numbered and less trained than the British soldiers.
Chapter 3
3-1: Johnny is very upset that Rab died. He is very emotional.
Chapter 5
5-1: Rab died because he was badly wounded and lost too much blood. Johnny is very sad and
feels defeated.
5-2: Johnny dosen't feel ashamed because his hand is a small injury and it made him a better person. He thinks of others before he thinks of himself.
